Martin, what is the most impor­tant news about the 5M series?

For the 2024 model year, the 5M series is getting a new top model, the 5130M with 135 maximum hp. This gives the tractor even more power for demanding tasks on the farm but also for trans­port work or when mowing with a front-rear combi­na­tion. We also offer two new trans­mis­sion options: PowrQuad PLUS and Powr8. They enable comfort­able gear changes without any inter­rup­tion in trac­tion. The Powr8’s EcoShift func­tion reduces the engine speed of the new 5M, leading to reduced fuel consump­tion while providing the neces­sary power for trans­port work of up to 40km/h.

Why is the 5M partic­u­larly suit­able as a farm­yard tractor?

On the one hand, there are its com-pact dimen­sions. With a height of less than 2.65m and a turning radius of just 4.10m, this tractor is ideal for narrow barns. In addi­tion, the sloping hood, in combi­na­tion with the large panoramic roof, offers excel­lent visi­bility. This is partic­u­larly impor­tant for front loader work. Since such a tractor is often used by customers in front of the feed mixer wagon and there­fore has to be ready for use at all times, we now offer JDLink on the 5M trac­tors. This means that connected support services are also avail­able for proac­tive support from a John Deere dealer.

Are there other intel­li­gent solu­tions for the 5M besides JDLink?

On the new 5M we inte­grated the Auto­Trac guid­ance system directly into the dash­board, like on the 6M where it is in the corner posts. All you need is prepa­ra­tion for Auto­Trac and a StarFire receiver. The tracking func­tion increases preci­sion and effi­ciency by minimising over­laps when working in fields and grass­land. An upgrade to addi­tional intel­li­gent func­tions with a G5 Universal Display is possible at any time.
