Precision FarmingAlmost everything can happen automatically

Automation in arable farming operations is advancing, enhancing work comfort, improving precision and ultimately increasing productivity. A closer look at the key solutions from John Deere reveals that many of today’s tasks can be automated.

A look at the most important solutions from John Deere shows how most work steps can already be automated today.

The tractor is a key machine for agriculture. With the help of the AutoTracTM steering system, the tractor virtually steers itself across the field, while the G5Plus universal display and the ISOBUS standard allow many work steps of an implement to be controlled and automated.

When working the soil, the AutoTracTM steering system in particular helps to avoid overlapping and to work quickly. Application maps can be used to create a work plan for individual fields with steering tracks for a precision planter or seed drill and send it to your tractor. Thanks to ISOBUS compatibility, the seed drill settings are shown on the tractor’s display as soon as it is coupled. When the tractor drives onto the field, the job automatically appears on the display. The driver only has to confirm the job and can then get started immediately.

Soil samples, analysis of last year’s crop yields, and information about crop growth during the growing season are used to create specific fertilization maps for different areas. This helps in accurately applying fertilizers to each field..

As with fertilisation, application maps for herbicide, fungicide and insecticide applications can also be created for chemical crop protection to ensure the precise application of crop protection products. As a basis for mechanical weed control, AutoPathTM can be used to record drill rows at the sowing stage, which can then be used to work quickly when driving through with a hoe.

Harvesting is about getting the best possible yields, quality and collecting data to enable you to analyse your harvest results for future crops. The main focus is to ensure that your machines are set up correctly to complete the harvest itself as efficiently and smoothly as possible and to collect the right data.
